The report is written from the point of view of a company seeking licences for the manufacture and sale of GSM/GPRS compliant handsets.
Based on extensive research into the patents which cover GSM compliant products and the practical experience of the company in telecommunications,
particularly mobile telephony licensing, the report addresses many issues which need to be resolved in the course of licence negotiations.
In particular, some of the key players are identified and target royalties estimated. The nature of different GSM compliant products are considered together
with the geographic scope of patent coverage to provide a licensing strategy for obtaining the licences needed for manufacture and sale of GSM
compliant products. Arguments for use in licence negotiations are developed together with practical licensing tactics. The report aims to
provide much of the background intelligence needed to support effective licence negotiation and to provide the royalty estimates needed for
determination of commercial strategies.
The report is supplied with an MS Access database listing patents relating to GSM derived from the ETSI database and other sources containing
some 3,000 entries.

3GPP and data on patents allegedly Essential to both 3GPP and GSM containing some 15,000 entries;
- a database containing US patents derived from a variety of sources which includes abstracts and main claims and contains some 1,200 entries.
